Floor drains efficiently remove water from surfaces, directing it to the sewage system. Commonly used in kitchens, food processing, and hospitals, they often need to be stainless steel for hygiene standards. In restaurant kitchens, they are crucial near boiling pans to manage cleaning water. Proper drainage enhances safety by reducing the risk of accidents from hot liquids and other hazards.
A floor drain channel collects water from the kitchen floor and directs it into the waste system without pooling. The channel is set level with the finished floor, creating a continuous slope towards a central outlet. Water flows along the sloping base, enters the siphon, and is carried away through the drain pipe. The siphon traps odours and prevents them from rising back into the kitchen.
The operator installs the channel before the final floor finish is laid. Levelling pins on the side walls adjust the height so the top edge matches the surrounding floor. Once the floor is finished, a mesh grating is fitted over the channel to catch debris while allowing water to pass through. The grating can be lifted for cleaning or inspection.
The channel is a single welded piece of AISI 304 stainless steel, 0.8 to 2.0 mm thick. The base slopes towards the outlet, and the side walls include levelling pins for alignment. The outlet is fitted with a siphon and a DN100 stainless steel pipe with an external diameter of 108 mm.
Edge profiles are available to match different floor finishes: a standard profile, a profile for vinyl floors, and a profile for tiled floors. Mesh gratings are optional, available in smooth or anti-slip finishes and different mesh sizes.
The 400 x 300 mm footprint determines the space the channel occupies on the kitchen floor. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion and withstands the weight of kitchen traffic. The central siphon ensures continuous drainage and odour control, while the adjustable edge profiles allow the channel to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding floor finish.
Cleaning involves removing the mesh grating and rinsing the channel to clear debris. The siphon should be checked periodically to ensure it remains clear and functional.
Variants include edge profiles for standard, vinyl, or tiled floors, and optional mesh gratings in smooth or anti-slip finishes with different mesh sizes.
