Bowls and buckets are among the most widely used kitchen accessories in professional catering – without them, it is impossible to prepare salads, mix dough or store products between stages. In restaurants, cafés and canteens, these containers are used hundreds of times a day, so the quality, durability and hygiene compliance of their materials are critical. BHS offers a full range of bowls and buckets for HoReCa needs across Europe.

Stainless steel bowls

Stainless steel bowls are the standard in professional kitchens – they are durable, easy to clean, suitable for high-temperature processing and comply with HACCP hygiene requirements. Steel bowls are used for mixing dough, preparing salad ingredients, whisking eggs, and holding products before heat treatment. Available in various sizes from 1 L to 30 L and larger. Bowls with rolled edges are safer to use and more long-lasting. BHS offers stainless steel bowls for various applications.

Plastic bowls and buckets

Plastic bowls made from food-safe HDPE or PP material are lightweight, impact-resistant and feature volume markings for easy portioning. Plastic bowls are most commonly used in patisserie kitchens, where it is desirable to avoid the noise of metal containers. Food-grade buckets with lids are ideal for storing dough during fermentation, marinating products and transporting prepared salads. Available in capacities from 3 L to 50 L. Buckets with a tap are convenient for dispensing liquids. Colour coding according to HACCP principles – different colours for different product categories – prevents cross-contamination.

Glass bowls and HACCP hygiene

Glass bowls are suitable for presentation and serving, where product visibility is important. Glass is chemically neutral, does not absorb odours and is easy to disinfect. Dishwasher-safe glass bowls are long-lasting. HACCP principles state that all food-contact materials must be approved – all BHS bowl materials comply with European food safety regulations. Regular visual inspection for cracks and chips is mandatory for every bowl and bucket to prevent food contamination risks.

HoReCa use scenarios

In patisserie production, large stainless steel bowls (8–15 L) are used for mixers and manual mixing, plastic buckets for dough fermentation, and glass bowls for preparing glazes and creams. In salad bars, many small stainless steel bowls (1–3 L) are used for preparing and sorting ingredients, with larger ones for refrigerated storage. In restaurant prep kitchens, HACCP colour-coded plastic bowls are used for different product categories. In canteens, large buckets (10–20 L) are used for preparing soups, sauces and garnishes. BHS helps select the optimal set of bowls and buckets for each HoReCa format. Bulk orders are available with favourable B2B terms.

Frequently asked questions

Are plastic buckets suitable for food storage? Yes, if they are made from food-safe HDPE or PP material. Check that the bucket is marked with a food-contact symbol. BHS offers only food-safe materials in compliance with European regulations.

What capacity bowls should be chosen for a patisserie? For basic patisserie needs, bowls in several sizes are required: small (0.5–2 L) for glazes and decorations, medium (3–5 L) for creams, and large (8–15 L) for mixers and dough mixing. BHS consultants help assemble the optimal bowl assortment.
