Granular Ice
A granular ice maker produces small, soft flakes of ice by freezing a thin layer of water on a refrigerated drum. The drum rotates, and a scraper peels the frozen layer off in irregular flakes. This method creates ice that cools quickly, moulds to products and melts slowly, keeping surfaces moist without forming a solid block.
The ICE TECH GR1100 follows this principle with a refrigerated cylinder inside a stainless-steel cabinet. Water flows over the cylinder, freezes into a thin sheet, and is scraped off as granular ice. The ice falls into a modular container below, where it can be stored or dispensed directly onto food displays, seafood counters or laboratory samples.
To operate the GR1100, connect the water supply and the 400 V electrical circuit. Set the machine to start; it will run continuously, producing ice until the container is full or the power is switched off. The modular container allows the ice to be removed in stages without stopping production, so fresh ice is always available during service.
The cabinet is built from high-grade food-safe stainless steel, chosen for hygiene and resistance to corrosion. Superior-density insulation lines the walls, reducing heat transfer and keeping energy consumption low. The overall dimensions of 1335 mm wide, 610 mm deep and 815 mm high fit under most worktops or on a sturdy shelf, while the 210 kg weight requires a solid floor or a purpose-built stand.
Controls are minimal: an on-off switch and a status indicator. The 3.9 kW power rating means the unit draws a steady load, so it should be connected to a dedicated circuit to avoid tripping other equipment. The 400 V three-phase supply is standard in professional kitchens and industrial settings, matching the electrical infrastructure already in place.
A production rate of 1130 kg per 24 hours means the GR1100 can keep pace with high-volume cooling needs, whether for supermarket fish counters, fast-serve restaurants or laboratory cold rooms. Granular ice's soft texture prevents bruising on delicate produce and allows even coverage without clumping.
Cleaning involves flushing the water system regularly to prevent scale build-up, especially in areas with hard water. The stainless-steel surfaces can be wiped down with food-safe sanitiser, and the modular container lifts out for thorough cleaning. If the local water supply has high calcium content, a decalcification filter should be installed upstream to protect the refrigerated drum and maintain ice quality.
The GR1100 is a single model with no variants. It is categorised under commercial refrigeration and ice-making equipment.
