The ICE TECH GR series ice maker, manufactured from durable stainless steel, produces naturally shaped granular ice, providing an optimal solution for preserving product freshness over a longer period of time. It is suitable for a wide range of applications – fresh food displays in supermarkets, restaurants, seafood storage, as well as use in laboratories, healthcare, and other industries.
The “GR Split” version allows the cooling/compressor unit to be installed separately, making it suitable for locations with limited workspace or where specific cooling/ventilation requirements must be met. The cooling unit can be purchased separately.
Cooling system – water or air.
Granular ice.
A granular ice maker produces small, soft ice grains that chill drinks and displays without damaging delicate items. The machine freezes water in a vertical evaporator cylinder, where a rotating auger scrapes the ice from the walls before it can form a solid block.
The GR 560 SPLIT follows this principle with a split-system design: the ice-making unit stands on the worktop or counter, while the separate cooling unit can be positioned up to several metres away. This arrangement keeps the heat and noise of the compressor out of the serving area and allows the machine to fit into tight spaces where a single-unit model would not.
To operate the machine, connect a water supply and a 400 V three-phase electrical circuit. The unit fills the evaporator automatically, freezes the water into granular ice, and ejects the grains into a modular storage container that the user provides. No built-in bin is included, so the ice can be collected in any vessel of the correct size, from a small counter-top tub to a large under-counter or remote bin.
The cabinet is constructed from stainless steel, with a compact footprint of 525 mm wide, 410 mm deep and 815 mm high. At 70 kg, the unit can be moved by two people and placed on a sturdy worktop or shelf without additional reinforcement. The refrigerant is R290, a hydrocarbon with low global-warming potential, which meets current environmental regulations for professional refrigeration equipment.
Controls are minimal: an on-off switch starts and stops the ice production cycle, while indicator lights show power status and any fault conditions. The machine is designed to run continuously within an ambient temperature range of -9 °C to +4 °C, ensuring reliable output in both chilled back-of-house areas and air-conditioned front-of-house spaces.
A daily output of 580 kg means the machine can supply a busy bar or restaurant throughout service without running out. The granular ice's soft texture and rapid chilling properties suit cocktail preparation, beverage displays, and food presentation, while the split design keeps the serving area quiet and cool.
Cleaning involves regular descaling of the water circuit and sanitising the evaporator cylinder. The modular container can be removed and washed separately. No built-in storage means the user must empty and clean the collection vessel daily to prevent ice bridging or contamination.
The cooling unit (article RCU 15) is sold separately, allowing the user to position it in a ventilated plant room or outside the building. This flexibility is particularly useful in small kitchens or bars where space is limited.
The GR 560 SPLIT is categorised under professional ice-making equipment for continuous use in hospitality, retail and display applications.
