Electric cooktop with 6 cast iron hotplates, featuring a stainless steel construction and a locking system.
An electric hob heats food by passing current through cast iron plates that become hot and transfer that heat directly to pots and pans. The plates are thick and dense, so they hold heat well and spread it evenly across the cooking surface. Each plate has its own circuit and control, allowing different temperatures on different parts of the hob at the same time. This method gives precise, responsive heat without open flames, making it safer and easier to control in a busy kitchen.
To use the hob, the operator places a pot or pan on one of the six round cast iron hotplates. Each hotplate has a selector switch with seven power settings, letting the chef choose the right level of heat for the task. A temperature limiter prevents the plate from overheating, and a residual heat indicator shows when the surface is still hot after the power is turned off. The hob is switched on at the wall, and the feet are adjusted to level the unit on the worktop.
The hob is built from 18/10 stainless steel, a grade that resists corrosion and staining in a professional kitchen. The worktop is 1 mm thick with rounded edges, and the splash guard and chrome-plated components give a durable, easy-to-clean finish. The control knobs are water-resistant to IPX5, so they can be wiped down without damage. The unit weighs 82 kg, which keeps it stable on the worktop but means it needs two people to move safely.
The 15.6 kW total power rating means the hob requires a 400 V three-phase electrical supply, the standard for heavy-duty catering equipment. This supply can handle the load of all six hotplates running at once without tripping the circuit. The footprint of 1200 mm by 705 mm fits a standard worktop depth and gives enough space for six pots side by side.
Cleaning is straightforward: the cast iron hotplates and stainless steel surfaces can be wiped down with a damp cloth once cool. The Scotch-Brite satin finish hides scratches and fingerprints, and the rounded edges prevent dirt from collecting. The splash guard stops liquids from running onto the floor, and the water-resistant knobs can be cleaned with a damp cloth without risk of damage.
The PCT-712ET is a single model with six cast iron hotplates. It is designed for professional kitchens and is placed in the hob section of the catering equipment catalogue.
