Floor drains efficiently remove water from surfaces, directing it to the sewage system. Commonly used in kitchens, food processing, and hospitals, they often need to be stainless steel for hygiene standards. In restaurant kitchens, they are crucial near boiling pans to manage cleaning water. Proper drainage enhances safety by reducing the risk of accidents from hot liquids and other hazards.
A drainage channel collects water from a large floor area and directs it to a single outlet through a gentle slope built into the channel base. The central siphon traps odours and debris, preventing them from rising back into the kitchen while allowing water to flow freely. This arrangement keeps the floor dry, reduces slip hazards and simplifies cleaning under heavy use.
The operator installs the channel between the worktop and the floor gulley, aligning the levelling pins with the subfloor. Once the channel is levelled and secured, the chosen edge profile is fitted to match the surrounding floor finish—standard, vinyl or tile. The siphon is connected to the DN100 stainless steel pipe, which carries waste water to the main drain. Gratings, either smooth or anti-slip, are placed over the channel to support foot traffic and catch larger debris before it reaches the siphon.
The channel is a single welded unit of AISI 304 stainless steel, 0.8 to 2.0 mm thick, forming a hermetic trough that slopes towards the central outlet. Side walls include levelling pins for precise alignment, and the outlet is sized for a standard 108 mm external pipe. Edge profiles are interchangeable, allowing the channel to integrate with different floor materials without cutting or refitting.
A 3000 x 300 mm footprint suits long prep areas, dishwashing zones or walk-in refrigeration rooms where water runoff is continuous. The one-part construction eliminates joints that could leak or trap dirt, and the stainless steel resists corrosion from cleaning chemicals and food acids. The central siphon simplifies maintenance by concentrating waste at a single point, reducing the number of traps that need regular inspection.
Cleaning involves removing the gratings, flushing the channel with hot water and brushing away any residue. The siphon is detached for deeper cleaning, and the pipe is checked for blockages. Edge profiles are wiped down to prevent grime build-up at the floor junction.
The channel is available in custom lengths on request, and gratings can be ordered in different mesh sizes to suit the expected load—fine mesh for small debris, coarse mesh for heavy foot traffic. Edge profiles are selected at the time of order to match the planned floor finish.
