SS series ice makers stand out with their compact and durable AISI 304 stainless steel construction, reliable operation, and clean, crystal-clear ice cubes specially suited for professional beverage service. The series is equipped with a spacious ice storage bin and is available with both air and water cooling systems, allowing adaptation to different working environments.
Cooling system – water or air.
M/L size ice cubes 22/40 g
An ice generator built for continuous production of dense, slow-melting cubes that keep drinks clear and presentations crisp. Water is sprayed in a fine mist onto a chilled copper evaporator, freezing layer by layer until the cubes reach the set weight. The evaporator's high thermal conductivity pulls heat from the water quickly, creating ice that is crystal-clear and free of trapped air.
Operation begins by connecting the water supply and power. The external On/Off switch starts the cycle; the timer controls how long the machine runs, while the thermostat maintains the evaporator at the precise temperature needed for consistent cube size. Once the cubes are formed, a harvest cycle releases them from the evaporator and they fall into the modular storage container. The container is not built into the machine, so the operator can choose a bin that matches daily demand or space constraints. Two cube sizes are available: 22 g for standard drinks and 40 g for larger presentations or slower melting.
The cabinet is constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel, a material chosen for its resistance to corrosion and ease of cleaning. All external surfaces are smooth and seamless, reducing places where dirt or bacteria can collect. The cooling system can be configured for air or water cooling, allowing the unit to adapt to different kitchen environments. Air-cooled models draw heat away with a fan, while water-cooled versions circulate chilled water through the condenser, making them quieter and more efficient in hot or enclosed spaces.
A power rating of 13.5 kW indicates the load the machine places on the electrical supply; it requires a dedicated 230 V single-phase circuit capable of handling the starting current. The 165 kg weight means the unit is moved on a trolley or with two people, and the 1321 × 638 × 978 mm footprint must be planned into the worktop or floor layout. The refrigerant R290 is a hydrocarbon with low global-warming potential, used here in a quantity that complies with safety standards for commercial kitchens.
Cleaning follows from the parts the machine exposes. The water circuit should be flushed regularly to prevent scale build-up, especially if the local water is hard. The evaporator and spray nozzles are accessible for brushing and descaling, and the stainless-steel surfaces can be wiped with food-safe sanitiser. A water softener and filter are recommended to extend the life of the evaporator and maintain ice clarity.
Two cooling options are available: air-cooled (Art. 60001 L) and water-cooled (Art. 60002). The machine produces either 22 g or 40 g cubes, selected at the time of order. The modular container allows the operator to pair the generator with any compatible ice bin or dispenser, giving flexibility in storage volume and location.
The SS 400 is placed in the catalogue under professional refrigeration, in the ice-machine section for medium to high-volume production.
