An ice machine that brings professional clarity and slow-melting ice to a home kitchen. The DOMO R290 produces solid 22 g cubes that chill drinks without diluting them, preserving flavour and appearance.

Ice machines of this type freeze water in a closed mould, extracting heat through a refrigeration cycle. The mould is chilled below the freezing point, turning water into ice from the outside in. A dynamic production system circulates water during freezing, pushing out impurities and dissolved air. This method yields clearer ice that resists melting and avoids unwanted tastes or odours. The cycle repeats automatically, building a supply of cubes in the storage container.

To start, fill the water reservoir, plug the unit into a standard 230 V socket and select the desired ice-making mode. The machine begins a cycle, freezing water into cubes and releasing them into the 8 kg storage bin once complete. Each cycle takes approximately 35 minutes under nominal conditions, producing 12 cubes. The process continues until the bin is full or the water reservoir is empty. A transparent lid allows the operator to check the ice level without opening the unit, reducing warm air entry and maintaining efficiency.

The DOMO R290 is constructed with a stainless-steel exterior and a plastic storage bin. Front and rear ventilation grilles ensure consistent airflow, preventing overheating and supporting stable operation. The compact footprint of 595 mm by 578 mm fits standard 60 cm kitchen cabinets, allowing seamless integration into worktop or under-counter spaces.

Controls are minimal: a power switch and a mode selector set the ice production rate. The 0.212 kW power rating reflects a modest electrical load, suitable for a domestic circuit. The 40 kg weight allows the unit to be moved by two people but suggests a permanent installation for regular use.

The 14 kg daily capacity means the machine can replenish the 8 kg storage bin nearly twice in 24 hours, providing a steady supply for household use and entertaining. The 22 g cube size is tailored for drinks, balancing cooling efficiency with slow melt. The voltage requirement of 230 V at 50 Hz matches standard UK domestic power, eliminating the need for special wiring.

Cleaning involves emptying the storage bin, wiping the interior with a damp cloth and rinsing the water reservoir. The dynamic production system reduces calcium carbonate build-up, but periodic descaling with a manufacturer-recommended solution maintains clarity and performance. The ventilation grilles should be kept free of dust to ensure proper airflow.

The DOMO R290 is a single model with no variants. It is categorised under home ice machines in the ICE TECH range.
