An electric hob heats pans by conduction from cast-iron hotplates. Each plate carries an electric element beneath its surface; when switched on, the element glows and transfers heat directly into the base of the pan. This method gives fast, even heating and precise control over the cooking temperature, which is essential for sauces, frying and simmering in a busy kitchen.

The operator places a pan on one of the six round cast-iron hotplates, selects the power setting with the IPX5 water-resistant knob, and turns the selector switch to start the element. A temperature limiter prevents overheating. Once cooking is finished, the knob is turned to zero and the pan removed. If the hob has a residual heat indicator, it remains lit until the plate is safe to touch.

The PCT-712ETX is built on a 1 mm thick CrNi stainless-steel worktop with rounded edges and a satin Scotch-Brite finish. Chrome-plated components and a splash guard protect the front and sides. Six round cast-iron hotplates with steel sealing rings are set into the worktop. Each hotplate has seven power settings controlled by a selector switch and a temperature limiter. Adjustable feet allow the unit to be levelled on uneven floors, and a locking system secures the feet once set. Tray runners with locking stops keep pans from sliding during use.

The 15.6 kW power rating requires a three-phase 400/440 V supply, which is standard in professional kitchens for high-demand appliances. The 1200 mm width accommodates six pans at once, while the 82 kg weight means the unit is moved with a trolley or two people. The 280 mm height fits under standard worktop cupboards when the splash guard is removed.

Cleaning is done with a damp cloth and mild detergent; the satin finish hides scratches and fingerprints. The IPX5-rated knobs can be wiped down without risk of water ingress. Cast-iron hotplates should be cleaned after each service to prevent carbon build-up, and the steel sealing rings checked for tightness. The splash guard and tray runners are removable for thorough cleaning.
