An espresso machine built for baristas who need precision, speed and consistency across every cup. Two independent brew groups let two drinks run at once, cutting queue time in busy cafés and restaurants.
Espresso machines of this type heat water to the exact temperature needed for extraction, then force it through tightly packed coffee grounds under pressure. The pressure and temperature must stay steady throughout the shot to pull the full flavour from the grounds. A PID controller monitors and adjusts the temperature continuously, so each espresso tastes the same as the last, even during a morning rush.
The sequence starts with grinding and dosing the coffee into the portafilter. The barista locks the portafilter into the brew group, selects the drink on the keypad and presses start. Water is pre-heated in a boiler, then a pump sends it through the coffee at the set pressure. A soft pre-infusion stage wets the grounds gradually, releasing the aromas before full pressure is applied. Once the shot is pulled, the machine can rinse the group automatically, ready for the next customer.
Each brew group has its own digital display and keypad, so two baristas can work side by side without interfering. The keypad lets the operator set temperature, extraction time and pre-infusion length for each drink, storing the settings for future use. Steam knobs control the steam wands, which are fitted with anti-suction valves to keep milk from being drawn back into the machine, maintaining hygiene.
The Onyx 2GR TA is constructed from stainless steel and aluminium, with an insulated boiler to hold temperature. The portafilter has a soft-touch finish for grip, and the steam wands are positioned for easy access. Front and rear panels can be customised to match the café's décor, and optional LED lighting highlights the work area.
A power rating of 3.35 kW means the machine needs its own dedicated circuit on a 230 V single-phase supply, typical of professional kitchens. The 11.5 L water tank supplies enough volume for a service without constant refilling, while the 67 kg weight keeps the unit stable on the counter. The footprint of 705 mm by 585 mm fits most worktops, leaving space for grinders and cups.
Cleaning follows from the parts the machine has. The automatic rinsing function flushes the brew groups after each use, reducing manual scrubbing. Steam wands should be purged and wiped after every frothing cycle to prevent milk residue. The water tank and drip tray are removable for daily cleaning, and the exterior can be wiped with a damp cloth.
The Onyx 2GR TA is a dual-group espresso machine designed for high-volume coffee service in cafés, restaurants and hotels.
