A chest freezer maintains bulk frozen goods at sub-zero temperatures by circulating refrigerant through coils beneath the cabinet. The refrigerant absorbs heat from the stored items, lowering their temperature and preserving them without dehydration or freezer burn. Unlike upright models, a chest freezer's horizontal design minimises cold air loss when opened, as cold air naturally settles at the bottom. This makes it particularly effective for long-term storage of large or irregularly shaped items, such as whole joints, bulk packs, or prepared dishes.
To use the FR305-SL, load items into the basket or directly into the main compartment, ensuring even spacing for airflow. Set the desired temperature using the thermostat, which the built-in thermometer monitors. The lockable handle secures the contents, while the defrost water drain collects and channels melted ice away during manual defrosting. The unit rests on castors with brakes, allowing repositioning before locking into place for stability.
The freezer's construction includes a powder-coated white inner liner, which resists corrosion and simplifies cleaning. The refrigerant, R600a, is a hydrocarbon with low environmental impact, used here in a 50 g charge. The 0.185 kW power rating reflects the compressor's energy demand, suitable for a standard 220-240 V single-phase circuit. The 273 L volume provides ample space for bulk storage, while the 50 kg weight ensures manageable movement on castors, though it requires two people for lifting over steps or uneven surfaces.
Temperature control spans -24 °C to -14 °C, accommodating both deep-freezing for long-term preservation and slightly warmer settings for items that do not require ultra-low temperatures. The footprint of 984 x 700 mm fits into most kitchen layouts, though the 945 mm height may require clearance above for lid opening.
Cleaning involves wiping the interior with a mild detergent after defrosting, using the drain to remove excess water. The powder-coated liner prevents moisture absorption, reducing odour retention. The basket and thermometer can be removed for separate cleaning. Regular defrosting maintains efficiency, as ice build-up reduces cooling performance.
The FR305-SL is a standalone chest freezer without additional variants. It is designed for professional kitchens requiring reliable bulk storage at consistent sub-zero temperatures.
