An upright freezer draws heat from the air inside its insulated cabinet and expels it outside, lowering the temperature below freezing point. A compressor circulates refrigerant through coils; as the refrigerant evaporates inside the cabinet it absorbs heat, then condenses in the external coils to release that heat into the room. This cycle repeats continuously, maintaining the set temperature without the need for manual defrosting.
The TEFCOLD UF200 is loaded through a single front door. Two fixed freezing shelves organise the interior, each shelf measuring 490 mm wide by 380 mm deep. The electronic thermostat is set on the control panel; once the desired temperature between -25 °C and -10 °C is selected, the compressor starts automatically and runs until the cabinet reaches the set point. The door seal holds the cold air in, and the adjustable legs level the unit on uneven floors.
The cabinet is constructed from stainless steel with a white painted finish. The refrigerant used is R600a, a hydrocarbon with low global-warming potential. The unit measures 600 mm wide, 585 mm deep and 855 mm high, fitting under most standard worktops. Its 120 litre volume provides storage for frozen goods while the 47 kg weight allows it to be moved by two people without equipment. The voltage requirement of 220-240 V at 50 Hz matches the standard single-phase supply found in British commercial kitchens.
Cleaning involves wiping the interior and shelves with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then drying thoroughly. The exterior is cleaned the same way, avoiding abrasive pads that could damage the painted surface. The door seal should be checked regularly for debris and wiped clean to maintain an airtight closure. The adjustable legs can be raised or lowered to ensure the unit stands level, preventing strain on the door hinges and ensuring proper sealing.
The UF200 is designed as an under-counter freezer, suitable for placement beneath worktops in professional kitchens where space is limited.
