A commercial upright freezer holds food at deep-freeze temperatures by circulating cold air across every shelf. The refrigeration system draws heat from the interior and expels it outside, lowering the air temperature below the point where bacteria and enzymes remain active. Ventilated cooling ensures an even temperature throughout the cabinet, preventing hot spots that could thaw stored items unevenly.
The operator loads trays or containers onto the three adjustable wire shelves, each sized to hold standard gastronorm GN2/1 pans. The solid door closes automatically, sealing the interior against warm air. A lock secures the contents overnight or during service breaks. The door can be hinged on either side, allowing the unit to fit into tight kitchen layouts without blocking aisles.
The cabinet is built from stainless steel, inside and out, for resistance to moisture and cleaning chemicals. Three white wire shelves support heavy loads while allowing cold air to circulate freely. Strong wheels beneath the base let the unit be moved for cleaning or reorganisation without lifting.
A single-phase electrical supply of 220-240 V at 50 Hz powers the refrigeration system, drawing 0.65 kW under normal operation. The temperature range of -24 °C to -18 °C keeps frozen goods at the safe storage temperatures required by food-safety regulations. The 480 L capacity provides space for bulk storage without occupying excessive floor area, while the 740 mm width and 830 mm depth fit through standard kitchen doorways and alongside worktops. The 148 kg weight keeps the unit stable during use but still allows it to be rolled into position by two operators.
Cleaning involves removing the wire shelves, wiping down the interior with a mild detergent, and drying the surfaces to prevent ice build-up. The exterior stainless steel panels are wiped with a damp cloth to remove fingerprints and spills. The wheels should be checked periodically for debris that could impede movement.
The reversible door and adjustable shelves allow the freezer to be configured for different kitchen layouts. The refrigerant R290 is used in a charge of 90 g, chosen for its low environmental impact while maintaining efficient cooling performance.
