Cold showcase RODOS 1000 mm. Temperature range +2ºC/+8ºC
A refrigerated display showcase keeps chilled products visible and accessible while maintaining a steady low temperature. The unit draws heat from the interior with a refrigeration cycle that circulates a refrigerant gas. A compressor pressurises the gas, raising its temperature; the gas then flows through a condenser coil at the rear, where it releases heat to the surrounding air and condenses into a liquid. The liquid passes through an expansion valve, dropping its pressure and temperature before entering the evaporator coil inside the cabinet. There it absorbs heat from the air, cooling the interior, and returns to the compressor to repeat the cycle. A fan circulates the chilled air evenly across the shelves, preventing warm spots and ensuring every item stays within the set temperature range.
To use the RODOS 1.0, plug the unit into a 230 V single-phase supply. Set the desired temperature on the electronic controller; the display shows the current reading. Load products onto the coated-steel shelves, adjusting their height and angle to suit different items. The LED-lit top panel and interior lights switch on automatically, illuminating the display. A night roller blind can be pulled down to cover the glass when the shop is closed. The automatic defrost cycle runs periodically, melting any ice build-up on the evaporator without manual intervention. An alarm sounds if the condenser becomes blocked or the fan fails, alerting staff to check the rear outlet.
The cabinet is built on a steel frame with insulated plastic side panels and double-glazed glass. The base and front panel are finished in coloured sheet metal, while the top panel is a translucent plexiglass cover for the LED lighting. Inside, the coated-steel shelves resist corrosion and are easy to wipe clean. The entire structure is filled with ecological polyurethane foam insulation, reducing heat transfer and keeping energy use low. A coloured bumper protects the front edge from trolleys and carts, and price strips in matching colours hold labels at the shelf fronts.
The 15.4 kWh per 24 hours power rating reflects the load on the electrical circuit; in a professional kitchen this unit typically shares a dedicated refrigeration circuit with other low-temperature equipment. The 2–8 °C temperature range suits fresh dairy, deli meats, prepared salads and chilled desserts, but excludes frozen goods. At 175 kg, the showcase is heavy enough to remain stable on the floor yet light enough to be moved with a pallet truck. The 1000 mm width, 830 mm depth and 2020 mm height give a compact footprint that fits against a wall or between counters, while the tall profile maximises vertical display space.
Cleaning involves wiping the coated-steel shelves and interior surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The glass panels should be cleaned with a non-abrasive glass cleaner to avoid scratching. The condenser outlet at the rear must be kept clear of dust and debris to allow proper airflow; a vacuum or soft brush can be used periodically. The night roller blind should be wiped down occasionally to remove dust. Shelves can be removed for thorough cleaning if needed, and the price strips are designed to be replaced without tools.
The RODOS 1.0 is available with a choice of colours for the sheet-metal panels, plexiglass top, LED lighting, interior shelves, price strips and bumper, allowing the unit to match shop branding or decor. The refrigerant can be specified as R404a, R507, R448 or R449 to comply with local regulations or existing system requirements.
This model is listed in the IGLOO refrigeration catalogue under plug-in showcases for retail and food-service applications.
