A mussel washer removes grit, sand and barnacles from shellfish by tumbling them in a rotating drum under a continuous water spray. The drum's perforated walls let debris wash away while the shellfish are gently agitated, lifting sediment without damaging the meat. This method replaces hand scrubbing, cutting preparation time and labour while improving hygiene in high-volume seafood service. The LCF/5 loads through the transparent polycarbonate lid. Once the lid is closed, the security microswitch activates the drum. The operator sets the timer between 0 and 4 minutes; the drum rotates, spraying fresh water across the load. After the cycle, the unloading button opens a gate in the drum floor, letting the cleaned mussels slide out onto the included CI tray. The same water jet that cleans the shellfish also rinses the drum interior, flushing residues down the drain. The body is stainless steel, chosen for corrosion resistance in wet environments. A removable abrasive brush disc sits inside the drum, scrubbing stubborn debris from the shellfish as they tumble. The transparent lid lets staff monitor the process without opening the machine, preventing water spillage and maintaining hygiene. The 0.26 kW motor draws power from either a single-phase 230 V or three-phase 400 V supply, fitting standard commercial circuits. The 29 kg weight keeps the unit stable on a worktop while still allowing two people to reposition it. The 830 × 530 × 740 mm footprint occupies a compact corner of the prep area, leaving room for adjacent sinks and work surfaces. Cleaning follows each use: the automatic water jet rinses the drum, the brush disc lifts out for separate scrubbing, and the transparent lid wipes clean with a damp cloth. The stainless steel exterior resists staining and can be sanitised with standard kitchen chemicals. The LCF/5 is supplied with a CI tray and the abrasive brush disc. This single model is engineered specifically for high-volume mussel cleaning without the need for multiple configurations. This model is categorised under shellfish preparation equipment in the FIMAR professional catering catalogue.
