Minibar TEFCOLD TD50C

A compressor-driven cooling drawer that slides into a bedside cabinet or worktop, keeping drinks and snacks chilled for hotel guests without a visible front or handle.

The TD50C uses a sealed refrigeration circuit charged with R600a refrigerant. A compressor circulates the refrigerant through a small evaporator coil mounted inside the drawer. As the refrigerant evaporates, it absorbs heat from the air around it, lowering the temperature of the drawer's interior. The cooled air is then circulated by a quiet fan, ensuring an even chill across every shelf and compartment. Because the compressor can maintain lower temperatures than thermoelectric systems, the drawer stays within the +5 to +12 °C range even in warm rooms, making it suitable for perishable snacks and sealed bottles.

To use the drawer, the guest or housekeeping staff slides it open on its runners. LED lighting switches on automatically, illuminating the contents. A small pull-out tray inside holds miniature bottles or chocolates, while the main compartment accommodates larger items. The operator sets the desired temperature using a concealed control panel; once set, the compressor cycles on and off to maintain the chosen level. A SLEEP mode button silences the compressor for a period, allowing undisturbed rest.

The exterior is constructed from pre-painted steel panels designed to be built into cabinetry. The interior liner is aluminium, chosen for its thermal conductivity and resistance to corrosion. The cooling coil and fan assembly are mounted at the rear, leaving the full 45 litre volume available for storage. The unit's footprint of 550 by 508 millimetres fits standard bedside cabinets, and its 22 kilogram weight allows it to be moved by two people during installation.

The 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz electrical connection plugs into a standard UK socket, drawing 0.04 kilowatts when the compressor runs. The low power consumption reduces the load on the hotel's electrical circuit, while the quiet operation prevents disturbance in guest rooms.

Cleaning involves wiping the aluminium interior with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The exterior steel panels are cleaned with the same solution, taking care not to allow liquid into the electrical components. The LED lighting and cooling coil require no regular maintenance beyond occasional dusting.
