A dough container holds bulk dough during mixing, resting and proofing, keeping it off worktops and organised for the next stage. The rigid walls prevent the dough from spreading, while the smooth interior lets it rise evenly without sticking. Stacking multiple containers saves space in the proofing cupboard or on the rack, and the uniform shape makes them easy to slide in and out without spilling.
To use, the baker loads the mixed dough into the container, covers it with a lid or cloth, and leaves it to rest or proof. The container can be moved as a single unit, so the dough travels from mixer to proofer without being tipped. When proofing is complete, the container is lifted onto the worktop and the dough is turned out directly onto the bench or into the divider.
The container is made of food-grade plastic that withstands repeated washing and does not absorb odours or colours from the dough. Its 400 mm length and 300 mm width match standard bakery racks, while the 100 mm height keeps the dough layer shallow enough for even temperature and humidity during proofing.
Cleaning is a rinse with warm water and a wipe with a non-abrasive cloth; no detergent is needed if the container is used only for dough. For deeper cleaning, a mild sanitiser can be used, but the plastic must be dried thoroughly to prevent mould.
The 10 L capacity holds enough dough for a full batch of bread rolls or a small loaf batch, keeping the dough in one piece for consistent results.
