A counter chiller keeps prepared food at safe holding temperatures while freeing the worktop above for plating and service. Inside the stainless-steel cabinet, a fan-driven evaporator circulates cold air evenly across every shelf, preventing hot spots and ensuring consistent chilling without freezing. The refrigerant absorbs heat from the food and releases it outside the unit, maintaining the set temperature range continuously. Automatic defrost cycles clear any ice build-up from the evaporator, so the chiller runs efficiently without manual intervention.
The operator loads GN1/1 gastronorm trays or loose items onto the two wire shelves, closes the self-closing doors, and sets the desired temperature between -2 °C and +10 °C. The ventilated cooling system starts immediately, pulling warm air down and recirculating chilled air until the cabinet reaches the target. Once stabilised, the chiller holds the temperature automatically, allowing staff to focus on other tasks. The removeable table top with splashback provides a hygienic work surface directly above the chiller, turning the unit into a compact prep station.
The cabinet is constructed from stainless steel, inside and out, for durability and easy cleaning. Two white wire shelves, also in GN1/1 size, slide out for loading and unloading. The doors close automatically to minimise cold-air loss, and adjustable legs allow the unit to sit level on uneven floors. A 0.3 kW compressor powers the cooling cycle, drawing 220-240 V at 50 Hz from a standard single-phase supply.
A 272-litre volume gives space for bulk chilled storage or holding multiple trays of plated dishes. The temperature range of -2 °C to +10 °C covers everything from delicate desserts that must not freeze to hot-held sauces that need to stay below the danger zone. At 94 kg, the chiller is heavy enough to remain stable during use but can still be moved with a pallet truck or trolley. The 1360 mm width fits standard worktop runs, leaving 700 mm depth for access and 980 mm height to clear most overhead cupboards.
Cleaning involves removing the wire shelves and wiping down the interior with a mild detergent solution. The evaporator coil and fan are accessible through a rear panel, allowing periodic dust removal to maintain airflow. The removeable table top lifts off for thorough cleaning of the splashback and underside. No additional maintenance is required beyond checking the door seals and ensuring the automatic defrost cycle completes without ice accumulation.
The GC72 is a single model with no variants. It is listed in the catalogue under Counter Chillers, Worktop Refrigeration.
