Energy-efficient bar fridge, 92 l
A backbar cooler keeps bottled and canned drinks chilled to the exact temperature that keeps carbonation crisp and flavours sharp. Instead of a static cold plate, a small fan draws air across an evaporator coil mounted at the back of the cabinet. The air circulates continuously, so every shelf receives the same steady chill without hot spots. This ventilated cooling cycle also prevents condensation from forming on the bottles, so labels stay legible and the exterior stays dry to the touch.
The operator loads the drinks through the full-height glass door, then sets the electronic thermostat to the desired temperature between +2 °C and +10 °C. The cooler maintains that setting automatically, so there is no need to monitor the dial once the initial adjustment is made. Two chrome wire shelves slide out on runners, allowing the user to organise stock by size or brand. Each shelf measures 398 mm across and 335 mm deep, so it can hold either two rows of 500 ml bottles or three rows of 330 ml cans side by side.
The cabinet is built with a black exterior and a plastered aluminium interior that reflects light evenly, making it easy to spot the required bottle or can even in dim bar lighting. The door seal is magnetic and closes flush, so the cooler retains its temperature when the bar is busy and the door is opened frequently. A white plastic coating on the wire shelves simplifies cleaning; spills wipe off without leaving residue or staining the metal.
A 94-litre volume provides space for 113 x 330 ml cans, 96 x 500 ml cans, 70 x 330 ml bottles or 70 x 500 ml bottles net. The footprint of 500 mm wide by 520 mm deep fits neatly beneath a standard bar counter or against a back wall, while the 870 mm height allows the unit to sit flush with most bar tops. At 53 kg, the cooler can be moved by two people without a trolley, but is stable enough to remain in place once positioned.
The power rating of 0.15 kW keeps the load on the circuit low, so the cooler can share a socket with other bar equipment without tripping the breaker. It runs on a standard 220-240 V, 50 Hz supply, which matches the mains voltage in commercial kitchens and bars across the UK. The refrigerant is R600a, charged at 48 g, which is non-toxic and has a low global-warming potential.
Cleaning involves wiping the interior and shelves with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then drying the surfaces to prevent water spots. The wire shelves can be removed for more thorough cleaning if needed. The exterior black finish resists fingerprints and smudges, so it requires only occasional wiping to maintain its appearance.
The DB106H is part of TEFCOLD's DB range of backbar coolers, designed for use in bars, pubs and restaurants where drinks need to be chilled quickly and accessed frequently.
