A freestanding wine cooler that maintains two separate temperature zones behind a single black frameless glass door. The upper compartment cools from 5 to 10 °C, creating the steady chill needed for white wines, sparkling varieties and rosés. Below, the second zone holds between 10 and 18 °C, keeping red wines at the slightly warmer conditions they require for flavour development and serving.
The cooling system circulates refrigerant through concealed evaporator coils. A small compressor draws heat from the air inside each zone, lowering the temperature to the set point. Because the two compartments are thermally isolated, the cooler can run both zones simultaneously without one affecting the other. An internal fan distributes the cold air evenly, preventing hot spots and ensuring every bottle rests in the same climate. The glass door is treated to block ultraviolet light, which can degrade wine over time, while the black finish and LED lighting give the cabinet a display-case appearance that suits front-of-house use.
Loading the cooler begins with the five pull-out beech wood shelves. Each shelf slides forward on smooth runners, allowing the operator to place or retrieve bottles without reaching deep into the cabinet. The sixth shelf is fixed at the base, providing a stable platform for larger or heavier bottles. Beech wood is chosen for its natural vibration-damping properties, which protect the wine from the small movements that occur when the compressor cycles on and off. The shelves are spaced to hold standard 75 cl bottles upright, with enough clearance for labels to remain visible and corks to stay moist.
The digital control panel is mounted inside the door frame. Two separate displays show the current temperature in each zone, and buttons allow the operator to raise or lower the set point in 1 °C increments. Once the desired temperature is selected, the cooler maintains it automatically, compensating for ambient conditions and the heat introduced when the door is opened. The LED lighting switches on whenever the door is ajar, illuminating the interior without adding noticeable heat.
The cabinet measures 540 mm wide, 548 mm deep and 845 mm high, giving it a compact footprint that fits beneath a standard worktop or against a wall. At 30.5 kg, the cooler can be moved by two people without specialist equipment. The door is reversible, so the hinge can be positioned on either side to suit the layout of the room. A 220-240 V, 50 Hz electrical supply is required, matching the standard domestic and commercial circuits found in British kitchens and bars.
Inside, the total volume of 112 litres is divided between the two zones, each sized to store a mix of red and white wines. The cooler consumes 0.39 kWh over a 24-hour period, reflecting the energy needed to maintain the set temperatures and compensate for door openings. The refrigerant is R600a, a hydrocarbon with a low global-warming potential, used here in a charge of 25 grams.
Cleaning involves wiping the interior surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent, taking care not to scratch the glass or wood. The shelves can be removed for more thorough cleaning, and the door seal should be checked periodically to ensure it remains free of debris and properly seated. The LED lighting does not require replacement under normal use, and the digital controls are sealed against moisture.
The SV452B is a single model with no variants. It is categorised as a wine display cooler, designed for environments where the presentation of the wine is as important as its storage.
