A refrigerated display case that keeps chilled goods visible and accessible at the point of sale, the UNIS COOL Kalix 1200 is built for checkout counters in supermarkets, forecourts and small retail spaces. Instead of a compressor that pumps refrigerant through coils, the unit uses a quiet, low-power fan to circulate cold air evenly across every shelf. The air is cooled by passing over an evaporator coil charged with R455a or R290 refrigerant, which absorbs heat from the cabinet and releases it outside. Because the fan moves the air continuously, the temperature stays uniform from top to bottom and front to back, so every product is held at the same safe chill level without freezing.

To load the case, the operator slides the three adjustable shelves into place, positions the goods on them, and closes the glass front. The electronic control unit is set to the desired temperature band—between +8 °C and +10 °C—and the unit starts automatically. A sensor monitors the air temperature and switches the fan and compressor on and off as needed to maintain the set point. Automatic defrosting runs at intervals, melting any ice that forms on the evaporator coil without manual intervention. The illuminated top panel switches on with the unit, casting light downwards to highlight the products inside.

The cabinet is constructed from grey-coated steel panels that form a rigid, insulated box. The glass front is double-glazed for thermal efficiency and clarity. Four adjustable legs allow the unit to be levelled on uneven floors, and the forced-air system ensures that the cold air is distributed evenly across all three shelves. The 0.62 kW power rating reflects the modest electrical load of the fan and compressor, suitable for a standard 230 V single-phase circuit. At 108 kg, the case is heavy enough to stay stable on the floor but can still be moved by two people or a trolley. Its 1176 mm width fits neatly in front of most checkout terminals without blocking customer flow, while the 505 mm depth keeps the footprint small.

Cleaning follows from the construction: the glass front can be wiped with a damp cloth, the steel shelves and interior panels are smooth and easy to sanitise, and the adjustable legs can be cleaned underneath. The electronic control unit is sealed against moisture, so it can be wiped down without risk of damage. The automatic defrosting cycle reduces the need for manual defrosting, and the illuminated top panel can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth to maintain brightness.
