A safety valve for a vibration pump releases excess pressure that builds inside the pump chamber during operation. The pump draws water by rapidly vibrating a diaphragm, which can generate pressure spikes if the outlet is blocked or restricted. The valve opens automatically at a preset threshold, diverting water away from the pump and preventing damage to seals, diaphragms or the boiler itself.

The valve is installed inline on the pump's discharge side. When the machine is switched on, the pump starts vibrating and water flows through the valve without resistance. If the downstream line becomes obstructed or the machine's brewing unit fails to open, pressure rises until the valve's spring-loaded mechanism trips. Water is then vented through the valve's outlet port, relieving the pressure and stopping the pump from stalling or overheating.

To fit the valve, the machine is first unplugged and the water tank emptied. The existing pump discharge line is disconnected, the old valve removed, and the new valve screwed into place. The same line is reconnected, ensuring the arrow on the valve body points in the direction of water flow. Once the tank is refilled and the machine powered on, the valve operates passively and requires no further adjustment.

The valve is a single-piece brass component with a threaded inlet and outlet. It is designed to match the flow rate and pressure range of standard vibration pumps used in domestic and light commercial espresso machines.
