Replacement cartridge for Purity water softener Stalgast 824131

A water softener cartridge removes dissolved minerals that cause hardness, replacing calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions through an ion-exchange resin. This process keeps limescale from forming inside kettles, combi ovens, steamers and coffee machines, so they run at full efficiency and need less descaling. The resin is packed inside a sealed cartridge that slots into the softener unit; once the resin is exhausted, the cartridge is swapped for a fresh one.

To use the cartridge, the operator shuts off the water supply, opens the softener housing, removes the spent cartridge and discards it. The new cartridge is inserted into the housing, the housing is closed and the water supply is turned back on. The softener then automatically begins the regeneration cycle, flushing the resin with brine to recharge it. After the cycle completes, the unit returns to service and delivers softened water until the cartridge reaches its rated capacity.

The cartridge is a single-use, disposable unit made of food-grade plastic. It fits only the Stalgast Purity 1200 water softener, model 824130. The 12,000 litre capacity means the cartridge will treat enough water for several weeks in a busy kitchen before replacement is needed, reducing the frequency of maintenance.

Cleaning is limited to wiping the housing interior with a damp cloth before inserting the new cartridge to remove any debris that could interfere with the seal.
