A PTFE flat gasket creates a pressure-tight seal between the portafilter and the brew group of a commercial coffee machine. The material resists heat and compression, so it does not harden or crack under the repeated cycles of espresso extraction. When the portafilter is locked in place, the gasket fills the gap, preventing water from leaking around the edges and ensuring the full pressure reaches the coffee puck.

To replace the gasket, the operator removes the old one with a flat tool, cleans the groove in the brew group, and presses the new gasket into place. The machine is then ready for the next extraction cycle without adjustment or calibration.

The gasket is cut from 2 mm PTFE sheet to an outer diameter of 52 mm and an inner diameter of 40 mm. These dimensions match the portafilter baskets used on the specified models, so the seal is consistent across the full range of brewing pressures.
