An insulated container that keeps hot or cold food at serving temperature during transport between kitchen and service point. The thick polyurethane foam core traps heat or cold inside, slowing the transfer to the surrounding air. This allows prepared dishes to travel without reheating or refreezing, preserving texture and safety without active power or ice packs.
The operator loads a standard GN 1/1 tray, 200 mm deep, into the container. The lid is closed and secured with four latches, sealing the foam against the tray edges. A vent valve in the lid allows pressure to equalise without breaking the seal, preventing condensation inside. The container is then carried by its integrated handles or placed on a trolley for longer distances.
The outer shell is polypropylene, chosen for impact resistance and ease of cleaning. The foam insulation is sealed between the inner and outer walls, so no moisture or food residue can enter the core. The vent valve is the only moving part and is designed to be opened and closed without tools.
Controls are limited to the four latches and the vent valve. The latches hold the lid tightly against the foam gasket, while the valve is opened before transport to prevent pressure build-up and closed once the container is in motion to maintain insulation.
The 26 litre volume matches the standard GN 1/1 tray, allowing a single tray to be transported without shifting. The 7.93 kg weight makes the container light enough to carry by hand when empty or loaded with a single tray. The 645 mm length and 445 mm width fit standard worktop depths and trolley shelves, while the 315 mm height allows stacking when not in use. The maximum temperature of 93 °C means the container can hold freshly cooked food straight from the oven or bain-marie without risk of warping or melting.
Cleaning is limited to the polypropylene surfaces. The outer shell and inner walls are wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent, avoiding abrasives that could scratch the surface. The vent valve is cleaned with a soft brush to remove any food particles. The foam core is never exposed and requires no maintenance.
The container is designed for GN 1/1 trays in stainless steel, polycarbonate or polypropylene, matching the standard sizes used in professional kitchens. It is listed in the Stalgast catalogue under insulated transport equipment.
