A GN 1/6 container standardises food storage and transport in professional kitchens. The Gastronorm system sizes containers so they slot into compatible trolleys, bain-maries, refrigerators and worktops without gaps or wasted space. A 1/6 module is one sixth of the full GN 1/1 size, making it small enough for individual portions or ingredients while still fitting the universal racking and shelving used across the industry.

The container holds food or liquids securely during storage, preparation and service. Its rigid walls prevent spills and protect contents from contamination. Because it is stackable, multiple containers can be organised vertically, saving worktop or shelf space. When placed in a chilled or heated unit, the container conducts temperature evenly, keeping food at the required level until it is needed.

To use, the operator fills the container with prepared food, liquids or ingredients. The flat base and straight sides allow easy scooping or pouring. The container then slides into a compatible rack, trolley or shelf unit. When stacked, the rims interlock, preventing slippage during movement. After use, the container is removed, emptied and cleaned.

Made of ABS, the container is lightweight yet strong enough for daily commercial use. ABS resists impact, chemicals and moisture, so it does not crack, warp or absorb odours. The material is also easy to clean and does not require seasoning or special treatment.

The dimensions 176 x 162 x 100 mm create a footprint that fits GN 1/6 cut-outs in worktops, trolleys and storage units. The 1.5 L volume holds individual portions or small batches of ingredients without overfilling. The height of 100 mm allows stacking while keeping the overall profile low enough for standard shelving.

Cleaning is straightforward: wash with hot water and detergent, rinse and air-dry. The smooth ABS surface does not trap food particles, and the material withstands repeated washing without degrading. No disassembly is required, and the container is dishwasher-safe.
