Airtight food containers maintain freshness by sealing out oxygen, the main cause of spoilage in stored ingredients. The lid creates a barrier that slows oxidation, keeping food usable for longer periods between deliveries. This method relies on a tight seal rather than refrigeration, so it works on worktops, in cupboards or on shelving without power. The seal also blocks odours and moisture, preventing cross-contamination between different foods in the same storage area.
To use the container, fill it with prepared ingredients or leftovers, then press the lid firmly into place. A small tab on the lid allows air to escape as the lid seats, ensuring a complete seal without trapped pockets. When the lid is fully closed, the double-lip design locks the edges, preventing leaks and maintaining pressure. To open, lift the tab; the seal breaks cleanly without sticking. The container fits standard GastroNorm racks, so it stacks with other kitchen storage and slides into refrigerators, warming cabinets or transport trolleys without adjustment.
The container is made of food-safe plastic, chosen for light weight and resistance to cracking under repeated use. The lid has an integrated tab for opening and a raised channel that expels excess air when closed. Colour-coded clips attach to the lid, allowing quick identification of contents or use-by dates. An IML traceability label is moulded into the base, providing a permanent record of batch and material without peeling or fading.
The 1 litre volume holds a single portion of sauces, dressings or prepped vegetables, matching the GN1/9 footprint used across professional kitchens. The 176 mm by 108 mm base fits standard GastroNorm shelving, while the 100 mm height keeps the container low enough to stack three or four high without toppling. The airtight seal reduces food waste by extending shelf life, cutting the frequency of restocking and the labour of rotating stock.
Cleaning follows from the smooth plastic surfaces and the removable lid. Wash the container and lid in hot water with detergent, rinse and air-dry. The lid's double lip can be cleaned with a soft brush to remove trapped food particles, ensuring the seal remains effective. The colour clips and IML label are part of the moulding and do not require separate cleaning.
The container is available in multiple colours, allowing kitchens to organise storage by food type, preparation stage or day of the week. Each colour matches the ARAVEN GastroNorm range, so the system remains consistent across different sizes and shapes.
