A GN 2/4 food container holds prepared ingredients, cooked dishes or chilled components in a standardised gastronorm footprint. The 150 mm depth allows bulk storage of sauces, soups, vegetables or desserts without exceeding the height of typical refrigerated or heated holding units. Polycarbonate construction gives a rigid, transparent vessel that lets kitchen staff see contents at a glance and stack filled containers safely without crushing the food inside.
The container acts as a modular storage unit that slides into gastronorm-compatible shelves, trolleys and bain-maries. Its flat base and straight sides maximise usable volume while allowing easy decanting or portioning. Because the material is non-porous and does not absorb odours, the same container can be used for different foods throughout a service period without risk of cross-contamination.
To use, the operator fills the container to the required level, covers it with a lid or film, and places it in a refrigerated cabinet, heated holding unit or transport trolley. The 530 mm length and 162 mm width match the GN 2/4 standard, so multiple containers can be arranged side by side or stacked vertically in standardised racks. When empty, the containers nest inside one another to save space in cupboards or on worktops.
Construction is a single piece of polycarbonate, chosen for its impact resistance and clarity. The material withstands repeated thermal shocks from chilled storage to hot holding without warping or cracking. It is also dishwasher-safe, allowing thorough cleaning between uses.
The 10.8 litre volume provides enough capacity for bulk preparation while remaining light enough to lift when full. The 150 mm height fits within the vertical clearance of most professional refrigerators and heated cabinets, ensuring compatibility with existing kitchen equipment.
Cleaning involves rinsing the container after each use, then running it through a commercial dishwasher. Polycarbonate resists staining and does not require special detergents, though abrasive pads should be avoided to preserve transparency.
