A food transport container keeps prepared meals, ingredients or finished dishes secure during movement between kitchens, events or storage areas. The container holds the contents in a sealed environment, preventing spills, contamination and temperature loss while the lid is closed. A tight-fitting lid creates an airtight seal, which slows the cooling of hot food and the warming of chilled food, maintaining food safety and quality over short transport distances. Handles allow the container to be carried by hand or stacked on trolleys without direct contact with the sides, reducing heat transfer and keeping the load stable.
The container is loaded by placing food directly inside or by inserting gastronorm (GN) trays that hold the food. The lid is pressed down until it clicks into place, ensuring the seal is complete. Handles are gripped to lift the container, and the holes in the handles allow air to circulate, preventing condensation from forming after cleaning. When the container reaches its destination, the lid is released and the contents are removed or the GN trays are lifted out.
The container is constructed from polyethylene, a lightweight and durable plastic that resists impact and corrosion. The material is non-porous, which prevents absorption of odours and stains, and is dishwasher-safe, allowing for thorough cleaning between uses. The lid fits tightly to the body, and the handles are integrated into the design for strength and ease of carrying.
The container accepts two GN 1/1 150 trays, which standardise the size of food portions and simplify the transfer of food between preparation, cooking and service equipment. The 79 litre volume provides capacity for bulk food transport, while the dimensions of 710 mm length, 440 mm depth and 380 mm height allow the container to fit through standard doorways and onto shelving units. The weight of the container when empty is light enough for manual handling, and the stackable design allows multiple containers to be transported together without shifting.
Cleaning involves removing the lid, emptying the container, and placing both parts in a commercial dishwasher. The polyethylene material withstands high-temperature washing and dries quickly, ready for the next use. The holes in the handles ensure that any remaining moisture evaporates, preventing the growth of bacteria between uses.
The container is designed for use with gastronorm-compatible equipment, including ovens, bain-maries, refrigerators and trolleys. It is suitable for professional kitchens, catering services and food production facilities where food must be transported safely and efficiently.
