A stainless steel grid spreads heat evenly across food without trapping steam, letting meat, fish or vegetables sear and crisp while the juices drip away. The open mesh creates direct contact with the heat source below, whether a gas burner, electric element or charcoal bed, so every piece cooks at the same rate and develops the same colour and texture.
The grid rests inside a standard GN1/1 gastronorm container, turning the container into a roasting or grilling tray that slides straight into ovens, bain-maries or hot cupboards. Food is loaded directly onto the grid, which lifts out in one piece for serving or cleaning. No transferring between dishes means fewer utensils and less handling in a busy service.
Each bar of the grid is set parallel to the next, leaving narrow gaps that support food without letting small items fall through. The grid itself is a single sheet of stainless steel, cut to 530 mm by 325 mm, so it fits the full width of a GN1/1 container and leaves a small margin for easy lifting.
Stainless steel resists corrosion from food acids and alkalis, and withstands the high temperatures of grilling without warping or discolouring. It also cleans quickly under a tap or in a sink, and can be scrubbed with a brush or scourer without damaging the surface.
The grid is supplied as a single piece with no moving parts, so upkeep is limited to washing after each use and checking that the bars remain straight and evenly spaced. If a bar becomes bent, it can be tapped back into place with a mallet.
This grid is part of the Stalgast range of gastronorm accessories, designed to fit standard catering equipment from most manufacturers.
