Airtight food containers maintain freshness by sealing out air that causes oxidation and spoilage. The lid presses tightly against the rim, creating a barrier that slows bacterial growth and moisture loss. When the container is closed, the double airtight lip on the lid compresses, forcing out excess air through a small channel. This reduces the oxygen inside, which is the main cause of food deterioration. The result is longer storage without freezer burn, wilting or flavour loss, making these containers suitable for refrigerated, frozen or dry storage in professional kitchens.
To use the container, fill it with prepared food, leaving a small gap at the top. Press the lid down firmly until it clicks into place. A tab on the lid allows easy opening, even with wet or gloved hands. When the container is sealed, the air inside is expelled through the channel, reducing oxidation. The container can then be stacked with others of the same GastroNorm size, saving space in refrigerators, freezers or cupboards. Colour-coded clips attach to the lid, helping kitchen staff organise and identify contents quickly.
The container is made of durable plastic, sized to the GN1/4 standard for professional catering equipment. Its dimensions of 265 mm by 162 mm by 65 mm give a volume of 1.8 litres, suitable for portioned ingredients, sauces or small batches of prepared dishes. The footprint matches standard GN1/4 racks, shelves and trolleys, allowing efficient use of storage space. The lid features an IML traceability label, which remains legible through repeated washing and use.
Cleaning is straightforward: the container and lid are dishwasher-safe, and the smooth surfaces allow easy removal of food residue. The airtight seal remains effective after repeated use, provided the lid and rim are kept free of debris. The plastic material resists staining and odour absorption, maintaining hygiene standards in busy kitchens.
