kit to test both temporary and total
hardness from carbonates
A hardness test kit measures the concentration of dissolved minerals in water by triggering a colour change in a reagent. Total hardness reflects calcium and magnesium ions, while carbonic hardness indicates the presence of carbonates and bicarbonates. These readings determine whether water softening or conditioning is needed to protect equipment and maintain consistent results in cooking, brewing and cleaning processes.
The operator fills a sample vial with the water to be tested, adds the reagent drop by drop, and compares the resulting colour against a calibrated chart. Each shade corresponds to a specific hardness value, allowing the kitchen team to adjust treatment systems without laboratory analysis.
This LF kit is supplied as a compact set of reagents and accessories ready for immediate use. It is designed to fit standard water-treatment systems from Alpeninox, Brita, Electrolux Professional and Zanussi, ensuring compatibility across a range of professional kitchen and beverage installations.
Regular testing with the kit helps prevent scale build-up in boilers, combi ovens and coffee machines, reducing maintenance and extending the service life of water-fed appliances.
