A water filter removes impurities from the water that passes through a coffee machine. As water flows through the filter cartridge, it encounters layers of activated carbon and ion-exchange resin. The carbon traps chlorine, sediment and organic compounds that would otherwise dull the flavour of the coffee and leave residues inside the machine. The resin softens the water by exchanging calcium and magnesium ions for sodium ions, reducing limescale build-up that shortens the life of heating elements and pumps.
To use the filter, the operator first soaks the cartridge in cold water for a few minutes to remove any loose particles. The filter is then inserted into the water tank or the dedicated filter housing of the coffee machine. Once fitted, the machine draws water through the filter every time it brews. The operator should note the date of installation and replace the filter after the recommended interval to keep the water quality consistent.
The filter is designed to fit specific models of De'Longhi coffee machines and pots. It connects directly to the water inlet, ensuring that every cup of coffee is made with filtered water. The construction is a sealed plastic cartridge that contains the filtering media, with inlet and outlet ports that align with the machine's water system.
Compatibility is limited to the models listed: De'Longhi coffee machines EC680.M, EC685.M, EC820.B, EC850.M, ECAM28.465, ECAM350.75.S, ESAM04.110.B and ESAM6900.M, as well as De'Longhi coffee pots 0132504007 (BCO420) and filter coffee machines 0132504008 (BCO410).
Regular replacement of the filter maintains the taste of the coffee and protects the internal components of the machine from scale and corrosion. The filter should be stored in a cool, dry place before use to preserve its effectiveness.
