A water filter cartridge removes suspended particles, chlorine and organic compounds from mains water before it reaches appliances such as combi-ovens, steamers and coffee machines. The cartridge contains a bed of activated carbon and a fine sediment mesh. As water passes through, the carbon adsorbs dissolved contaminants while the mesh traps grit and scale. The result is clearer, better-tasting water that protects internal components from limescale and corrosion, extending the working life of the appliance and reducing call-outs for descaling or repairs.

The operator fits the cartridge into the appliance's filter housing, usually located behind a service panel or beneath the worktop.
