A straight union fitting connects the water supply line to commercial icemakers, ensuring a secure and leak-free joint between two threaded pipes of different standards. One end accepts the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) thread used in many American-made water valves, while the other matches the British Gas thread common in European plumbing. This dual-thread design eliminates the need for adaptors, reducing connection points where leaks can develop under the pressure of a busy kitchen.

The fitting is installed by hand-tightening each end onto the corresponding pipe, then securing with a spanner to prevent loosening from vibration. Once in place, it remains static, carrying water from the supply to the icemaker's internal pump and distribution system.
