A thermocouple pilot converts heat from a gas flame into a small electrical current that holds open the gas valve. When the flame goes out, the current stops and the valve closes automatically, cutting the gas supply to prevent leaks. This safety mechanism is standard on professional gas appliances such as ranges, ovens, fryers and boiling pans.
The pilot flame heats the tip of the thermocouple, generating a voltage that keeps the safety valve energised. If the flame is extinguished—by a gust, a spill or a drop in gas pressure—the voltage disappears and the valve shuts within seconds. No power source is needed; the energy comes entirely from the heat of the flame.
To install the LF thermocouple pilot, the operator threads the M9x1 fitting into the designated port on the appliance, ensuring a gas-tight seal. The 1200 mm length allows the sensing tip to reach the pilot burner while the other end connects to the gas valve. Once secured, the pilot is lit and the flame adjusted so it reliably heats the thermocouple tip without sooting.
The unit is a single continuous probe of 1200 mm, constructed to withstand the heat and vibration of a busy kitchen. Its length is chosen to suit the internal routing of the appliances it fits, eliminating the need for additional couplings or extensions.
This LF thermocouple pilot fits gas appliances from AMBACH, DEXION, EMMEPI, HOBART, MBM, MODULAR, TECNOINOX and ZANUSSI, including kitchen ranges, pot stoves, solid-top units, boiling pans, bratt pans, convection ovens, fry-tops, fryers, hot cupboards, bain-maries and pasta cookers across the listed models.
Cleaning is limited to occasional inspection of the tip for carbon build-up and gentle brushing if needed. The probe itself is not user-serviceable; replacement is the standard procedure when the unit no longer holds the valve open reliably.
