A pilot flame sensor maintains the safety of gas-fired catering appliances by detecting the presence of a small standing flame. When the pilot is alight, the thermocouple generates a tiny electrical current that holds open the gas valve; if the flame goes out, the current stops and the valve closes automatically, cutting off the gas supply before it can build to a hazardous level. This continuous monitoring happens without operator intervention, allowing the appliance to remain ready for instant use while preventing unburned gas from accumulating.
The operator installs the sensor by threading its M9x1 fitting into the pilot assembly, positioning the tip directly in the path of the flame. Once secured, the thermocouple remains in place during all normal operation, requiring no further adjustment or attention. If the appliance fails to light or shuts down unexpectedly, the sensor is one of the first components checked, as its correct function is essential to both safety and reliability.
Constructed with a 1000 mm length of flexible metal-sheathed cable, the sensor reaches from the pilot burner to the gas valve, accommodating the typical spacing found in professional kitchen equipment.
This 1000 mm thermocouple fits a wide range of gas appliances from ANGELO PO, BERTO'S, COVEN, FAGOR, FOINOX, MBM, MODULAR, OEM, OFFCAR, SAGI, SILKO and ZANUSSI, including blast chillers, convection ovens, bratt pans, fry tops, boiling pans, pasta cookers, solid top ranges and kitchen suites. The catalogue lists it under pilot and safety components for gas equipment.
