A thermocouple pilot converts the heat of a standing gas flame into a small electric current that holds the gas valve open. When the flame goes out, the current stops and the valve closes automatically, cutting the gas supply without delay. This safety device relies on the Seebeck effect: two dissimilar metal wires joined at the tip generate a voltage when heated, and the appliance control circuit uses that voltage to confirm the flame is present.
The operator lights the pilot burner, which heats the thermocouple tip. After a few seconds the control circuit senses the voltage and allows the main gas valve to open. The appliance then ignites the main burners. If the pilot flame is extinguished, the voltage drops, the valve shuts and the burners cut off immediately.
This LF thermocouple is a single straight probe with an M8x1 threaded end and a 1000 mm length of flexible cable. The thread screws directly into the gas valve body on the specified Fagor and Gico appliances. No additional fittings or tools are required beyond a spanner to secure the connection.
The 1000 mm length allows the thermocouple to reach from the gas valve, mounted at the rear or side of the appliance, to the pilot burner at the front or centre of the hob or cooker. The flexible cable can be routed around other components without kinking or stretching.
It fits the following Fagor models: CG-210, CG-310, CG6-20, CG6-40, CG6-41, CG9-41, CG9-51CL, CG9-51CR, CG9-51 L, CG9-51LC, CG9-51R, CG9-51RC, CG9-60, CG9-61, CG9-61OP, CG9-82, CGE9-41, CGE9-61OP, CGF9-120, CGF9-120D, CGF9-120I, CGF9-121, CGF9-121D, CGF9-121I, CG-210G, CG-310G, CPE7-05, CPE7-05NC, CPE9-05, CPE9-05AD, CPE9-05ADS, CPE9-05PLUS, CPE9-05PLUSS, CPG7-05, CPG7-05NC, CPG9-05, CPG9-05AD, CPG9-05ADS, CPG9-05PLUS, CPG9-05PLUSS, EPC-350, GPC-350, CG9-20, CG9-40. It also fits Gico models CG7N020C, CG7N040C, CG7N162C, CG7N162FEBA, CG9N040HC, CG9N040HF, CG9N040HT, CT7N224C, CT7N224FBA and CT7N224T.
Cleaning is limited to wiping the probe tip with a dry cloth to remove any carbon deposits that could insulate the junction and reduce the voltage. The cable should be kept free of grease and sharp edges to prevent damage to the insulation.
