A flexible silicone hose carries steam and hot water inside professional coffee machines, connecting the boiler to the brew group and steam wand. The material is chosen for its ability to withstand repeated cycles of heating and cooling without hardening or cracking, while its smooth bore prevents scale build-up that would restrict flow. Shore 60 hardness gives the hose enough rigidity to hold its shape under pressure yet remains supple enough to route through tight spaces behind the machine's panels.

To replace the hose, the machine is first unplugged and allowed to cool. The old hose is cut away from its fittings, taking care not to damage the barbs or threads. The new hose is pushed onto the barbs until it seats fully, then secured with the original clips or new stainless-steel clamps. Once reconnected, the machine is powered on and a test cycle run to check for leaks at the joints.

The hose is made from alimentary-grade silicone, ensuring it meets food-contact regulations and will not impart taste or odour to water or milk. Its 3.5 mm inside diameter and 6 mm outside diameter match the standard ports on the listed Gaggia and Saeco models, allowing a secure, leak-proof fit without adapters.

A 1 m length provides enough slack to route around internal components while avoiding sharp bends that could kink the hose. The smooth inner surface reduces turbulence, helping maintain consistent water pressure for espresso extraction and steam delivery.
