A neutral buffet unit designed for self-service in primary schools and family hotels, the ROCAM KIDS 5N organises hot or cold dishes along a continuous line. The unit holds GN 1/1 containers at counter height, letting children and guests serve themselves without reaching or spilling. Its modular construction allows it to stand alone or link with other KIDS buffet models to form a longer service counter.

The buffet works on a simple principle: a rigid frame supports the worktop and any lower compartments, while the front and rear faces hold tray slides or dish holders. The slides guide trays or plates to the correct position, keeping them level and preventing them from sliding off. When the unit is part of a longer line, removable junction slides bridge the gap between adjacent buffets, creating a seamless run of tray slides. The lower compartment, if fitted, provides enclosed storage for spare containers, cutlery or cleaning supplies without taking up floor space elsewhere.

To use the buffet, the operator first selects the required accessories: tray slides, dish holders or sneeze guards. These clip or bolt onto the frame in the chosen positions. The GN containers are then loaded onto the worktop, and any lower compartment is stocked. The unit is wheeled into place, locked with the brakes, and connected to the power supply if lighting is fitted. Children or guests move along the line, sliding trays along the guides and serving themselves from the containers. After service, the containers are removed, the worktop wiped down, and the accessories folded or detached for easier cleaning.

The KIDS 5N is built on a stainless steel frame that resists corrosion and daily wear. The visible panels can be specified in laminated wood, stainless steel or powder-coated steel, each offering a different balance of warmth, hygiene and durability. The worktop is stainless steel, chosen for its resistance to heat, moisture and impact. Four castors, two with brakes, allow the unit to be moved between storage and service areas without lifting.

Controls are limited to the optional lighting, which is switched on or off as needed. The castor brakes are foot-operated levers that lock the wheels in place once the unit is positioned.

The external dimensions of 1821 by 747 by 750 millimetres give the unit a compact footprint that fits through standard doorways and along school corridors. The lower compartment, when fitted, measures 1583 by 302 millimetres, offering storage without increasing the overall height. The weight of 81 kilograms means the unit can be moved by two people, but the castors remove the need for lifting in most cases.

Cleaning follows from the materials: the stainless steel worktop and frame are wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent, while laminated or powder-coated panels are cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid scratching. Tray slides and dish holders are removed and washed separately, and the castors are checked for debris that could impede movement.

The KIDS 5N is available in a range of panel colours, including silver, rose, saffron, lime, sky, ocean, ivy, sage, cappuccino, clay, grey, Niagara, veined white, white sand, birch, grey fog, elm, walnut, wenge, anthracite and veined black. Optional accessories include folding dish holders in laminated wood or stainless steel, stainless steel tube tray slides, removable junction slides for linking units, and lower compartments with doors. Each accessory is specified at the time of order to match the intended layout and service style.
