A refrigerated buffet keeps chilled food at serving temperature without drying or spoiling. The unit uses a compressor to circulate R290 refrigerant gas through coils beneath the well. Heat from the food is absorbed by the gas, which the compressor then expels outside the cabinet. This cycle maintains a steady low temperature, allowing trays of prepared meals to stay fresh for hours while remaining accessible to children.

The operator loads the stainless steel well with up to three gastronorm 1/1 pans of chilled food. A digital thermostat sets the temperature between +2 °C and +10 °C, ensuring compliance with food-safety regulations for school meals. The well's rounded edges and 26 cm depth make it easy to slide pans in and out without spills. A drain cock at the base simplifies cleaning after service.

The buffet is assembled by positioning the unit on adjustable feet that level it on uneven floors and create a skirting board for hygiene. The operator selects the desired temperature on the digital panel, then arranges the chosen accessories: sneeze-guards, tray slides, dish holders or lighting. Once the food is loaded, the refrigeration cycle runs continuously, keeping the pans chilled until the end of service.

The structure combines a stainless steel frame with laminated wood panelling in a choice of colours. The external dimensions of 1171 mm wide, 747 mm deep and 750 mm high fit within standard school kitchen layouts, while the internal well measures 1017 mm by 593 mm by 260 mm. A lower compartment with doors provides additional storage for backup trays or utensils.

Controls consist of a digital thermostat that regulates the well temperature and a power switch. The 230 V voltage requirement matches standard UK kitchen circuits, and the 0.330 kW power draw remains within typical supply limits for catering equipment.

The 81 kg weight allows two staff members to move the unit on its castors, two of which have brakes to secure it during service. The packing dimensions of 135 cm by 92 cm by 120/185 cm high accommodate standard doorways and lifts for delivery.

Cleaning involves wiping the stainless steel surfaces with a damp cloth and sanitiser, emptying and rinsing the well, and clearing the drain cock of debris. The removable display grid and tray slides can be taken off for thorough washing, while the laminated wood panels are wiped down with a mild detergent.

The KIDS 3R is available with multiple optional configurations: LED or halogen lighting, straight or inclined sneeze-guards, foldable dish holders in wood or stainless steel, and various tray slides for self-service or assisted service. Each option is selected at order to match the school's service style and kitchen layout.
