A refrigerated buffet designed for primary school meal service keeps prepared dishes chilled while presenting them for self-service. The ROCAM KIDS 2R uses a static refrigeration system: a compressor circulates refrigerant gas through coils beneath the stainless steel tank, drawing heat out of the food and maintaining a steady temperature. This method avoids moving parts above the work surface, reducing noise and simplifying cleaning in a busy school environment.

The operator loads the tank with gastronorm containers, sets the electronic thermostat to the desired temperature between +2 °C and +10 °C, and places the chosen sneeze-guard or display grid over the food. Adjustable feet level the unit on uneven floors, while the drain tap at the rear allows quick emptying and rinsing of the tank. When service is finished, the containers are removed, the tank is wiped down, and the unit is switched off.

The buffet is built on a stainless steel frame with laminated wood panelling, available in a range of colours including silver, rose, saffron, lime, sky, ocean, ivy, sage, cappuccino, clay, grey, niagara, veined white, white sand, birch, grey fog, elm, walnut, wenge, anthracite, veined black, pure white, aluminium, grey, matt black and chocolate. The panelling can also be specified in full stainless steel or painted sheet metal. A 26 cm deep tank with rounded edges holds two GN1/1 containers, and the lower compartment provides additional storage.

Controls consist of an electronic thermostat that sets the temperature within the stated range. The 230 V voltage requirement matches a standard single-phase kitchen circuit, and the 0.330 kW power rating indicates the load on that circuit, which may increase if optional LED lighting is fitted. The 76 kg weight means the unit is moved on its four 125 mm diameter castors, two of which have brakes to secure it during service.

The external footprint of 846 mm wide, 747 mm deep and 750 mm high fits within a standard school worktop layout, while the 692 mm by 593 mm tank opening ensures full access to the gastronorm containers. The lower compartment measures 283 mm wide and 302 mm high, providing space for backup stock or serving utensils.

Cleaning involves wiping the stainless steel tank and panelling with a damp cloth, rinsing the tank via the drain tap, and checking that the castors and adjustable feet remain free of debris. The laminated wood or painted sheet metal finishes require only surface wiping, while the stainless steel options allow sanitising sprays.

Optional accessories include LED or halogen lighting, straight or inclined tempered glass sneeze-guards, closed glass displays for assisted service, foldable dish holders in laminated wood or stainless steel, removable display grids, and tray slides for self-service or wall-mounted configurations. Each option is chosen to match the school's service style and layout.
