Temperature 50-300

A thermostat controls the heat inside professional catering equipment by switching the heating element on and off at set points. In ovens, fryers, griddles and holding cabinets, the thermostat reads the current temperature and compares it to the target the operator has chosen. When the air or oil cools below that target, the thermostat closes a circuit, powering the element until the temperature rises again. Once the target is reached, the circuit opens, stopping the heat. This cycle repeats continuously, keeping the temperature steady within a narrow band. Without a thermostat, the appliance would either overheat, risking food safety and equipment damage, or fail to reach the temperature needed for proper cooking or holding.

The LF S-p thermostat is calibrated for a working range of 50 °C to 300 °C, covering the temperatures used in baking, frying, grilling, roasting and hot-holding. The operator sets the desired temperature on the control dial or digital interface of the appliance; the thermostat then maintains that setting automatically. There is no need to monitor a separate gauge or adjust the heat manually during service.

Fitted inside the appliance, the thermostat connects to the heating element and the control panel. Its sensing bulb or electronic probe sits in the cooking chamber, exposed to the air or oil whose temperature it measures. The body of the thermostat is mounted where it is protected from splashes and mechanical knocks, but still accessible for calibration checks and replacement.

The temperature range of 50 °C to 300 °C allows the thermostat to regulate both low-temperature holding and high-temperature cooking. Below 50 °C, the thermostat is not designed to operate; above 300 °C, it will not respond accurately and may be damaged. The range is chosen to match the processes found in professional kitchens: proofing dough, holding sauces, frying, baking and grilling.

Cleaning and maintenance follow from the parts the thermostat contains. The sensing bulb or probe must be kept free of grease and carbon deposits that would insulate it and slow its response. A soft cloth and a mild detergent are used; abrasives or steam cleaning are avoided to prevent damage to the sensor. The body of the thermostat is wiped down with a damp cloth, but not immersed or sprayed with water. Regular calibration checks ensure the thermostat remains accurate over time.

The LF S-p thermostat is a direct replacement part for compatible catering appliances. It is listed in the LF catalogue under temperature controls and spare parts for professional cooking equipment.
