A flat PTFE gasket forms a secure seal between the portafilter and the group head of an espresso machine. The material withstands heat and compression, maintaining its shape to keep water flowing through the coffee puck evenly. A faulty seal allows water to escape, reducing pressure and leading to weak or uneven extraction.

To install the gasket, remove the old seal from the group head, clean the groove, and press the new gasket into place by hand. The smooth PTFE surface allows the portafilter to lock in easily and release without sticking. Only a simple tool may be needed to remove the old gasket.

The gasket is made from a single sheet of PTFE, 2 mm thick. Its dimensions—21 mm outer diameter and 16.8 mm inner diameter—match the standard group-head groove used by the specified espresso-machine brands. The flat design ensures full contact with the portafilter basket, preventing leaks during use.
