A pressure switch in a commercial dishwasher monitors the water pressure inside the machine. When the pump builds enough pressure, the switch closes an electrical contact, signalling the control board that the wash cycle can proceed. If the pressure drops—because of a blocked filter, an empty tank or a faulty pump—the switch opens the contact, stopping the cycle and preventing damage to the heater or motor. This single-level switch reacts at one preset pressure point, ensuring the machine only runs when water is flowing at the correct rate for effective cleaning and rinsing.
The operator does not interact directly with the pressure switch; it works automatically once the dishwasher is powered on. After loading the racks and closing the door, the user selects a programme and starts the cycle. The switch then verifies water pressure before allowing the pump, heater and detergent dispenser to activate. Throughout the cycle, it continues to check pressure, interrupting the process if the flow falls below the required level.
Constructed as a sealed unit, the LF pressure switch contains a diaphragm that flexes with water pressure, moving a small lever that opens or closes the electrical contact. The housing is made of heat-resistant plastic, and the contacts are designed for repeated operation under the humid, high-vibration conditions of a professional kitchen.
This spare part fits a wide range of professional dishwashers and glasswashers from AFI, EUROSYSTEM, HILTA, IME OMNIWASH, LAMBER, NOSEM, SAB ITALIA, SOTAL, STORME and UNIC. It is listed in the catalogue under dishwasher components and safety devices.
