for boiler valve
for steam tap
A piston assembly controls the flow of pressurised water through the boiler valve of a superautomatic coffee machine. The piston moves inside a sealed chamber, opening and closing the valve port to release hot water at the exact moment the brew cycle demands. This mechanical timing ensures consistent extraction pressure, which determines the strength and crema of each espresso shot. Without a properly functioning piston, the valve may leak, drip or fail to open, disrupting the brewing sequence and affecting drink quality.
To replace the piston assembly, the machine is first powered off and unplugged. The outer casing is removed to expose the boiler valve housing. The old piston is extracted, and the new assembly is inserted into the same position, ensuring the seals align with the valve ports. The housing is reassembled, and the machine is tested with a water-only cycle to confirm the valve opens and closes without leaks.
The assembly is constructed from precision-machined components designed to withstand repeated thermal cycling and water pressure. The materials resist corrosion and wear, maintaining a tight seal over thousands of brew cycles.
Compatibility covers a wide range of professional and domestic superautomatic coffee machines, including models from Gaggia, Krups and Saeco. The list includes the Gaggia Accademia, Saeco Xelsis and Krups Palatino 905, as well as Saeco vending machines such as the Aulika and Royal Pro series.
This piston assembly is listed in the spare parts section for boiler valves in the professional coffee equipment catalogue.
