A sealing ring keeps the brewing chamber of a superautomatic coffee machine airtight while the pump builds pressure. Without it, water would leak past the portafilter or group head, weakening the extraction and leaving grounds wet. The ring sits in a groove, compressed between metal faces, and must stay supple enough to fill microscopic gaps yet firm enough not to extrude under pressure.
The operator removes the old gasket with a hooked tool, cleans the groove of coffee oils and scale, then presses the new ring into place. Once seated, it needs no adjustment; the next brew cycle tests the seal.
This gasket is moulded from food-grade silicone, chosen for its resistance to heat and coffee oils. The material stays elastic across the temperature range of a working machine and does not harden or crack over repeated heating and cooling cycles.
The ring measures 3 mm in thickness and has an internal diameter of 6 mm, matching the groove dimensions of the listed models. These measurements ensure the gasket sits flush without stretching or bunching, maintaining a consistent seal.
Cleaning is limited to wiping the exposed face with a damp cloth after each service to remove coffee residue. No solvents are needed; silicone resists staining and does not absorb flavours.
The gasket fits a wide range of Gaggia, Krups and Saeco coffee machines, including both domestic and vending models. The list covers superautomatic, semi-automatic and capsule systems, so the same part number serves multiple configurations.
