An O-ring forms a pressure-tight seal where two surfaces meet inside a coffee machine. It sits in a groove, compressed between metal or plastic parts, blocking water, steam and ground coffee from escaping. Over time the material hardens, loses elasticity and allows leaks that reduce brewing pressure and flavour. Replacing the O-ring restores the original seal and keeps the machine working at its designed pressure.

The operator removes the brewing group or the water connection the O-ring serves, prises out the old seal, cleans the groove and presses the new O-ring into place. No tools are needed beyond a small pick or flat screwdriver to lift the worn ring. Once seated, the O-ring is flush with the surface and invisible until the next service.

This O-ring is made of FKM, a synthetic rubber that resists heat, oils and the acids in coffee. It does not swell or degrade when exposed to steam or cleaning chemicals, so it maintains its shape and sealing force longer than standard rubber.
