An O-ring creates a watertight or steam-tight seal between two metal parts in catering equipment. It sits in a groove and is compressed when the parts are bolted together, blocking leaks that would otherwise let water, steam or cleaning chemicals escape. Over time the rubber loses elasticity, the seal weakens, and the machine begins to drip or lose pressure. Replacing the O-ring restores the original seal without disassembling the entire appliance.

The LF O-ring 0108 EPDM is a direct replacement for the worn seal in the water circuit of professional coffee machines, dishwashers, glasswashers, pan washers, bain-maries, convection ovens, fryers and hot cupboards. To install, switch off and isolate the appliance. Open the access panel that covers the water inlet or steam valve. Remove the old O-ring from its groove with a plastic pick or flat-bladed screwdriver, taking care not to scratch the metal seat. Clean the groove with a lint-free cloth to remove any scale or debris. Stretch the new O-ring over the fitting and seat it evenly in the groove. Reassemble the parts, tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's torque, and restore power. Run a short rinse or brew cycle to check for leaks before returning the machine to service.

The O-ring is moulded from EPDM rubber, a synthetic elastomer chosen for its resistance to hot water, steam and mild cleaning agents.
