An evaporator is the component that removes heat from water in a professional icemaker, turning it into ice. In these units, refrigerant circulates through a coil or plate inside the evaporator. As the water flows over the cold surface, heat transfers from the water to the refrigerant, lowering the water temperature until it freezes. The refrigerant, now warmed, carries the heat away to be expelled elsewhere in the system, allowing the cycle to repeat. This continuous heat exchange is what produces clear, solid ice in commercial quantities.
The operator does not interact directly with the evaporator during normal use. Once installed, it sits inside the icemaker, receiving water from the supply and refrigerant from the compressor. The icemaker's control system regulates the flow of both, starting and stopping the freezing cycle as needed. When the ice reaches the set thickness, the system switches to a harvest mode, briefly warming the evaporator to release the ice into the storage bin. The evaporator then cools again, ready for the next batch.
This LF MDP evaporator is a direct replacement for specific ICE TECH and ITV icemaker models. It fits the ICE TECH SS-150 and SS-150-R290 (Rev.01) units, along with the ITV GALA-MDP150, GALA-MDP150-R290 (Rev.01), MDP150, MDP-150 A and MDP-150 W models. Installation requires access to the icemaker's internal refrigeration circuit, where the evaporator connects to the existing refrigerant lines and water distribution system.
The evaporator is listed in the catalogue under icemaker spares and refrigeration components.
